Your Own Blood's Natural Growth Factors

PRP and PRF for Hair in Melbourne

Nurse-delivered platelet rich plasma (PRP) and platelet rich fibrin (PRF) for the hair and scalp. Our clinic is in Campbellfield, and we see clients from Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Coolaroo, Roxburgh Park and across Melbourne's north.

Who this is commonly explored by

PRP and PRF are commonly explored by people noticing thinning or reduced density. Suitability is assessed at a nurse-led consultation. Individual responses vary.

People often come to us after noticing one of the following. None of these is something we diagnose, and where a medical assessment is the right next step, we will say so.

What PRP and PRF actually are

Both begin the same way. A small blood sample is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and growth factors it already contains, which are then reintroduced to the scalp. Nothing synthetic is added.

PRP — Platelet Rich Plasma

Spun at a higher speed, producing a concentrated liquid plasma. Growth factors are released relatively quickly after the session.

PRF — Platelet Rich Fibrin

Spun more gently and without an anticoagulant, which allows a soft fibrin matrix to form. That matrix releases its growth factors more gradually over the following days.

Neither is better in the abstract. Which one suits you depends on your goals and what your nurse considers appropriate, and the two are sometimes combined across a course.

What a session involves

How treatment is structured

Treatment is commonly delivered as a course of sessions where appropriate, rather than relying on a single visit, usually followed by periodic maintenance. The number and frequency of sessions will depend on your goals and suitability, and your nurse will set that out with you before you commit to anything.

Your first visit is a complimentary consultation

Complimentary Nurse-Led Hair & Scalp Consultation

A $50 refundable booking deposit is required to secure your appointment.

If you proceed with treatment, the deposit is credited toward it. If you attend and decide not to proceed, it is refunded. Late cancellation and non-attendance are subject to our cancellation policy.

Where it is clinically suitable, treatment can be done on the same day. There is no obligation to proceed.

Pricing

Pricing is confirmed at your consultation, once the approach has been discussed with you.

Suitability and safety

Because PRP and PRF use your own blood, the risk of an allergic reaction is low. Suitability is still assessed before any treatment, and some health conditions and medications mean it is not appropriate. Medical clearance may be required. Your nurse will go through this with you at consultation.

Looking for PRP or PRF for your face or skin?

Under-eye, cheek and mid-face, jawline and neck, and PRP or PRF combined with skin needling are covered on our dedicated page.

Common questions

Both start with a small blood sample spun in a centrifuge. PRP is processed at a higher speed and releases its growth factors more quickly. PRF is spun more gently, with no anticoagulant, which produces a fibrin matrix that releases more gradually. Your nurse will discuss which is more suitable for you at consultation.

Most clients describe the scalp injections as brief and tolerable. Comfort options are discussed before your session.

We discuss what you have noticed, review relevant health and hair history, examine the visible scalp, and explain whether PRP, PRF, another option or further medical assessment may be appropriate.
