Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy at 1.3 ATA in Campbellfield
Mild hyperbaric sessions at 1.3 ATA in a comfortable pressurised chamber that seats two, breathing a higher concentration of oxygen for 30, 60 or 90 minutes at a time. Located in Campbellfield and welcoming clients from Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Coolaroo and across Melbourne's north.

Why people come to HBOT
Maybe it's the fatigue that coffee doesn't touch anymore. Maybe it's brain fog that makes a normal work day feel heavier than it should. Maybe you're training hard and your recovery just isn't keeping up with your effort. Or maybe you're recovering from something, an injury, a surgery, a long stretch of burnout, and you are looking for a structured way to support that process.
HBOT won't be the right fit for every single one of those reasons, and we'll always tell you honestly if it isn't. But it's exactly why most of our clients first walk through the door.
Mild hyperbaric sessions in Melbourne's northern suburbs
If you have searched for hyperbaric oxygen therapy from Campbellfield, Broadmeadows, Craigieburn or Coolaroo, you may have found that most providers sit closer to Preston and inner Melbourne. My BioHealth offers mild hyperbaric sessions locally, in the outer north. Travel times vary according to traffic, route and time of day, so please check your preferred navigation service before travelling.
How mild hyperbaric sessions differ from medical HBOT
My BioHealth provides mild hyperbaric sessions at 1.3 ATA in a wellness setting. This differs from medical hyperbaric treatment delivered in hospital or specialist facilities at higher pressures for recognised medical indications. Evidence varies according to the condition, pressure, oxygen concentration and treatment protocol, so mild hyperbaric sessions should not be presented as equivalent to medical HBOT.
If you would like the mechanism explained in more depth, including what the research does and does not establish at different pressures, we have written a longer piece:
What mild hyperbaric therapy is, and what 1.3 ATA means
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy means breathing a higher concentration of oxygen inside a pressurised chamber. ATA stands for "atmosphere absolute", it's simply the unit used to measure pressure. 1.0 ATA is normal air pressure at sea level, what you're breathing right now, reading this. At 1.3 ATA, the chamber gently increases that pressure by around 30%, roughly the sensation of descending a few metres in a swimming pool.
As pressure increases, oxygen dissolves more efficiently into your blood plasma, reaching tissue that reduced circulation can otherwise struggle to reach. That's the same basic physics used across the wider hyperbaric field, we deliver it at a mild wellness dose, not a clinical intensity.
"Why isn't your chamber 2.0 ATA?"
If you've been comparing HBOT providers, you've probably seen chambers advertised at 2.0 ATA and wondered if a lower number means a lesser session. It doesn't, and here's the honest, practical reason why.
Pressure tolerance and ear equalising scale directly with how much pressure you're actually under, the same way a scuba diver has to work harder to equalise the deeper they go. 1.0 ATA is normal air pressure, what you're breathing right now. 1.3 ATA is roughly a 30% increase, similar to the sensation of descending a few metres in a swimming pool. 2.0 ATA is double normal atmospheric pressure, a genuinely large jump, closer to the pressure change of a real dive.
That difference is exactly why most 2.0 ATA providers don't let you simply walk in and start, they typically require a separate, supervised introductory session first, purely to teach and confirm you can equalise safely at that pressure before a real session goes ahead. That's not a formality. It's because a meaningful number of first-time clients genuinely struggle to equalise comfortably at 2.0 ATA without that practice run, particularly anyone without diving or flying experience.
At 1.3 ATA, that separate training step is not part of our process. Many people tolerate mild pressurisation comfortably, but individual experiences vary. As the chamber pressurises, you may notice pressure in your ears. We explain simple equalisation techniques before the session.
The combination of increased ambient pressure and the session's oxygen-delivery method may temporarily change oxygen availability during the session. The significance depends on the pressure, oxygen concentration, protocol and individual circumstances.
A higher pressure is not automatically a better session, it is a different one, with a learning curve that many people do not anticipate. We chose 1.3 ATA deliberately, so that mild hyperbaric sessions are something most people can take part in comfortably from the first visit.
What to expect during your session
You relax in a comfortable pressurised chamber for 30, 60 or 90 minutes while breathing a higher concentration of oxygen. The chamber comfortably seats two people at once, so many clients bring a partner, friend or family member to share the experience side by side, though a solo session is just as easy to book.
Settling in. Your nurse walks you through what to expect before you begin, no surprises, nothing rushed.
Pressurising. The chamber pressurises gradually, not suddenly. Most people feel gentle pressure in the ears, similar to a plane taking off, and it passes quickly.
During your session. Once at pressure, there's nothing to do except relax. Read, rest, close your eyes, or chat quietly with whoever you've brought along. It's quiet, comfortable, and unhurried.
Coming back down. The chamber depressurises gradually at the end, and you step out to continue your day. A recovery period is not usually required, though individual responses can vary.
Why consistency matters more than a single session
A single session can introduce you to the experience. Where ongoing use is suitable, frequency should be based on the person's goals, tolerance, available evidence and relevant professional advice. Where suitable, mild hyperbaric sessions may be included within a personalised My BioHealth Recovery Pathway following screening and discussion. Individual experiences after a session vary. Any change tends to build gradually with consistency, which is exactly why our Recovery Programs schedule HBOT two to three times weekly rather than as an occasional treat.
Why so many clients stack this with Photobiomodulation (red light)
HBOT and red light therapy work on two different, complementary parts of the same picture. HBOT increases how much oxygen your blood can carry and deliver to tissue, by breathing a higher concentration of oxygen under mild pressure. Photobiomodulation is understood to work at the cellular level, supporting the mitochondria, the structures inside your cells that turn oxygen into usable energy. One increases supply, the other supports how well your cells use it. We can't promise a specific combined outcome, but the mechanisms genuinely complement each other, which is why the two are so often booked together on the same visit.
Who it may suit
- You're dealing with fatigue or brain fog that rest alone isn't fixing
- You're training seriously and want your recovery to keep pace with your effort
- You're recovering from an injury, surgery, or a long period of burnout
- You want a wellness session you can genuinely share with a partner or friend
- You're curious about HBOT but don't want the intensity or learning curve of a higher-pressure setting
- You're looking for something structured, not just another isolated wellness fad
This is general information, not a diagnosis. You can book online. Your first-visit health screening is completed when you arrive, before your session begins, and that is where we make sure this is genuinely right for you.
Sessions and pricing
- 30 minutes — From $79
- 60 minutes — From $109
- 90 minutes — From $139
Prices reflect a single session. Our Recovery Programs, which schedule HBOT two to three times weekly alongside other therapies, offer better value for anyone committing to a structured course rather than one-off visits.
Common questions
It's not "less", it's a different, more accessible experience. You still get real hyperbaric oxygen delivery at 1.3 ATA. The difference is that 2.0 ATA requires genuine equalising skill most first-timers don't have yet, which is why those providers usually need a separate practice session before your first real one. At 1.3 ATA, you skip that entirely and start getting the benefit from your very first visit.
No. We deliver HBOT as a mild 1.3 ATA wellness dose, not a clinical medical intensity. It uses the same basic physics as the wider hyperbaric field, at a gentler pressure suited to wellness and recovery support.
Most people describe it as gentle pressure in the ears, similar to a plane taking off, nothing close to the sensation of scuba diving or a genuinely high-pressure chamber. It passes quickly, and most people don't need to learn any specific equalising technique. If it's your first session, arrive 10 minutes early so we can walk you through equalising properly before you begin.
Yes. Our chamber comfortably seats two people at once. Plenty of clients turn their session into shared time with a partner, friend or family member, though a solo session is just as easy to book.
You can choose 30, 60 or 90 minutes depending on your goals and schedule. Your nurse can help you decide what's right for you at your first visit.
Comfortable cotton clothing is best. Avoid lotions, oils, perfumes and hair products before your session.
Eat lightly beforehand and avoid a heavy meal in the hour before your session. We also ask you to avoid alcohol and smoking on the day of your session.
Let us know before your session. A cold, blocked ears or sinus congestion can make equalising difficult, and you may need to reschedule for your comfort and safety.
Absolutely. Many clients read, rest, or drift off entirely. There's no requirement to stay alert or do anything at all.
Some clients notice a sense of calm or mental clarity in the hours afterwards, but the more meaningful changes tend to build gradually with consistency. That's why HBOT is scheduled as part of a structured Recovery Pathway rather than sold as a one-off fix.
Yes. A screening consult happens before your first session to check for contraindications and make sure HBOT is genuinely appropriate for you, this is a standard part of our nurse-led approach, not an extra hurdle.
We're not an NDIS-registered provider, but we're happy to provide invoices and receipts for self-managed or plan-managed participants to submit for reimbursement. Ask our team about NDIS options at your first visit.
The two work on different, complementary parts of the same picture. HBOT increases how much oxygen your blood can deliver to tissue. Red light is understood to support the mitochondria inside your cells, the structures that turn oxygen into usable energy. One increases supply, the other supports how well your cells use it. We can't promise a specific combined outcome, but the mechanisms genuinely complement each other, which is why so many clients book them together rather than separately.
A systematic review analysing 11 studies found symptom improvements in patients treated at 30 sessions using mild 1.3 ATA air, the same pressure our chamber uses.
Most of our Recovery Programs schedule HBOT two to three times weekly, since consistency across a course of sessions tends to matter more than any single visit.
No. Clinical hyperbaric medicine used for conditions like severe carbon monoxide poisoning or non-healing wounds runs at much higher pressures under strict medical supervision. Our chamber offers a mild 1.3 ATA wellness dose, a genuinely different category of use.
Our screening consult covers age and individual suitability with you directly. Speak with our team before booking if this applies to you.
Most clients return to normal activity immediately afterwards. Your practitioner will flag anything specific to you individually during your screening consult.
Yes, we're a short drive from all three, plus Coolaroo and Roxburgh Park. Given HBOT works best with regular sessions, many local clients build us into their week rather than treating each visit as a special trip.
